HVAC systems are more than just comfort. Let's face it, it has become a comfort that we simply cannot live without. Whether we need to crank up the heat on a cold winter evening or cool things down a notch for those hot summer days, it goes without saying that our comfort is critical to remain productive and functional.

Many people may be unaware of the need to maintain their HVAC systems. They're unfortunately not just an install and forget. In todays world of continued rising costs for everything we depend on - groceries, gas, food and electricity - proper maintenance of your HVAC system can help reduce the financial burden and eliminate surprise costs that could have you sacrificing your comfort or having to decide between heat and food.

Let's take a look at some of the key areas where proper maintenance can help reduce the burden on your wallet.

Energy Efficiency.

We love to use cars in our analogies because they provide the perfect example of operating efficiency. The harder you press the gas pedal in your car, the header the engine works and the more gasoline it consumes.

Similarly, your AC and heating system have several components that come in to play which can be compared to the accelerator pedal of your car. Much like the cars power output and gasoline consumption ratio, the harder your HVAC system works - the more electricity it needs to do its job.

When your fuel injectors in the car are clogging up, or the spark plugs are fouling, the efficiency is reduced. The same is true for your AC system. Various components not running at peak optimum performance can result in consuming more electricity to deliver less results, driving up costs needlessly and also adding further wear and tear to your HVAC system.

Increased lifespan.

HVAC systems are an investment, and just like any technology we use daily, they do have components which are rated for specific lifespans. Those lifespans, however, can be quite long - if the system is maintained properly.

Failure to perform proper maintenance on your AC and heating system can result in premature wear of those components, resulting in failures that could be avoided on top of the increased costs to run the inefficient system.
